I love to paint “Plein Air” in the field and then take these field studies to my studio to create larger studio pieces. I use photography to help with the architectural accuracy of a place, but the field studies give me more detail as to the values and emotion of the place.
I strive to capture that dramatic lighting in the landscape in the early morning or late afternoon that brings a warm mood and glow to the landscape. That special light moves me somewhere deep in my soul.
